Grey Matters: Seniors shouldn’t quietly take their medicine

November 27, 2017

When it comes to pharmaceuticals, seniors tend to be super users. Two-thirds of those in long-term care facilities take 10 or more medications, according to a 2012 Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) report.

Even among active older Canadians, pharmaceutical use is high. A poll of 5,190 CARP members in July revealed that, while 10 per cent use no prescription medications, CARP members are prescribed four medications each on average and five per cent take 10 or more.

just curious if you intned to comment or post an article on Ontario Bill 162 to LEGALIZE Life Settlements which just passed its Second Reading

you would think that this issue should be on the forefront of CARP’s current Advocacy efforts of behalf of Ontario seniors (especially before next June’s lection) but surprisingly they have yet to issue a Press Release

back in 2004 I was interviewed by June Yee their Financial Editor and she wrote an article in their 50Plus (now Zoomers) Magazine entitled “Use your Life Policy for Cash Now”

We can’t follow everything. If you want to submit something to us for publication. We would be happy to look at it and do so.

I will send you a copy of the 2004 CARP 50Plus article and you can decide if you would like to publish it. I have had it translated into French and Chinese and my understanding from CARP is that I could display on my website as long as I acknowledged the source of the article and its Copywrite.

      2004? That’s a bit old, isn’t it? Send it along to monitortelgram@gmail.com.

it’s old because it was printed in response to Schedule G of the Red Tape Reduction Act 2000 which was going to LEGALIZE Life Settlemnts subject to FSCO bringing in Regulations – since the Liberals came to power in 2002 nothing has been done and it’s remarkable that “sleeping beauty” suddenly woke up 15 years later just in time for the next election !!
