It’s hunting season every season in Canada if you are a taxpayer.
If it is not the federal government thinking of new ways to separate you from your hard-earned income, it is surely some city councillor somewhere drooling over the idea. If it isn’t that guy (or girl as the case may be), you can bet there is some civil servant or health care professional plotting somewhere else on how to increase their funding with your money.
Of course, these people would have you believe it isn’t really your money or any of your business how it is spent. And if you complain about it, you are being small-minded and churlish, if not downright un-Canadian.
Well, it is downright Canadian to get taken advantage of.
